Virtual Baking Class: Medovik (Honey Cake)

Virtual Baking Class: Medovik (Honey Cake) 12/3/23
$65.00

When: Sunday, December 3, 11am PST/2pm EST

Medovik, a multi-layered honey cake, is much beloved throughout Russia, Ukraine, and the rest of Eastern Europe for itโ€™s tender graham-like layers and sweetened condensed or tangy sour cream filling. A labor of love, it will make any special occasion or holiday table extra sweet!

In this 90-minute live demo class. I will breakdown what might seem to be an intimidating process into simple, achievable components; and will share all my tips and tricks to getting each step right! I will cover how to mix and roll out the cake dough; stamp and bake off each round; and make a Russian dulce de leche buttercream to fill and frost the Medovik (sorry, no sour cream in this version!). There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions along the way.

Two days before class, I will email you the recipe packet and a Zoom access link. If you canโ€™t make it to the live demo, I will also send out a recorded version of class afterwards.

If you have any questions, please email me. If the cost of class is prohibitive, write to me and we can work something out!

In-Person Georgian Spring Supra Cooking Class at Book Larder

Iโ€™ll be teaching a Georgian Spring Supra Class at Book Larder in Seattle! Menu includes: spinach and beet pkhali (vegetable pate with walnuts and garlic), penovani khachapuri (puff pastry cheesy bread), and chakapuli (braised lamb with white wine, tarragon, and sour plums). Of course, Georgian wine will also be poured - it wouldn't be a proper supra without it!

Richmond: Pop-Up at Accoutre

Join me and a handful of talented makers for an outdoor market pop-up at Accoutre in Richmond, VA from 4-8pm!

In addition, youโ€™ll be able to eat some bread & pastry from Janeyโ€™s Bread, snack on some cheeses from the Luckiest Cheesemonger, sip on wine from Lightwell Survey, and take home some beautiful handmade knives from The Dustworks, homewares from Accoutre, and artwork created by Molly Reeder.

Itโ€™s going to be such a fun time. Spread the word and come on out!
